Powercor crews will today complete all of the necessary repairs to restore power to its customers impacted by Victoria’s severe storms.
Storms over the past two days have been intense and damaging, with lightning striking numerous transformers, tree branches and debris blown across power lines and some power lines brought to ground.
More than 65,500 Powercor customers have lost supply over the past two days and damage to the distribution network has been extensive with more than 50 transformers requiring replacement across a broad geographic area.
At present, around 1,400 customers in Melbourne’s west including Sunshine, Werribee, Laverton and Bacchus Marsh awaiting reconnection.

More than 20 additional crews, including some from other power companies, have been brought in to tackle outstanding jobs in the West.
Field crews are also working in Kyneton and Bacchus Marsh on a number of smaller repair jobs which will also be completed today.
During last night’s peak storm period, almost 40,000 customers lost power, predominantly in Melbourne’s west and outer west.
This followed extensive storm damage incurred by Powercor’s network on Wednesday with the worst impacted areas including Mooroopna, Shepparton, Kyneton, Echuca, Bendigo, Ararat, Stawell and Castlemaine.
